The specificities of the COMNUM group of DOAE Valenciennes focus on the mastery of signal processing techniques implemented at the physical layer and at the receiver level in digital communication systems. In an "end-to-end" approach, the COMNUM group brings its expertise in the development of innovative telecommunications systems, by proposing solutions to adapt to the characteristics of the propagation channel, or to improve the performance/complexity trade-off of the circuits or systems produced. Special attention is paid to the optimization of multimedia digital transmissions (still images and video).
The fields of activity are centered around digital and radiofrequency communications: the fields of application concern essentially security in transport, multimedia transmissions, multi-cellular networks as well as radio-optical communications on fiber.
RESEARCH TOPICS
The research activities of the COMNUM group are in the field of Information Sciences and Technologies. They are based on a system approach to offer original solutions to optimize the performance of telecommunications systems. The studies carried out generally lead to experimental validation and the setting up of demonstrators.
Digital video transmission systems :
the objective is to provide the final observer with the best possible visual quality in reception ...
Keywords: resource allocation, ultra-wideband, multi-carrier modulation, optical telecommunications, co-coding, MIMO
Research-based training: Members of the COMNUM group are strongly involved in the teaching of ICST at theISTV and coordinate the Masters Communications Systems Engineering (ISC) and Audiovisual and Multimedia course in Image and Sound Systems Engineering (ISIS).
