After the doctoral thesis
The post-thesis period must be considered as part of a global professional project.
As the doctorate is part of an end-of-study program, it opens up multiple employment prospects in both the public and private sectors.
The doctorate is most often a first step towards a job as a researcher in Public Scientific and Technological Establishments (EPST) offering research officer or research engineer profiles such as the CNRS or INRIA. In the same sector of activity, the profile of lecturer combines teaching and research in a university setting.
The other path, just as rich in perspectives, concerns the private sector where career profiles are offered, such as research and development engineer within the Research and Development department.
Between the public and private sectors, intermediate and complementary paths exist, such as ATER positions or Post-Doc.
The main routes:
- the Post-Doc
- become a researcher
- becoming a teacher-researcher
- to the industry
