Nataliya KALASHNYK
Junior Professor Chair at University of Lille
+33 (0)3 20 19 79 07
nataliya.kalashnyk@univ-lille.fr

 Abstract of research activity
The main research activity of Nataliya Kalashnyk since her doctorate concerns the understanding of growth mechanisms and organization of matter at the ultimate scales, the interactions, nanostructures on surfaces and at interfaces, as well as the resulting physical properties. Her expertise is mainly in the field of the surface functionalization of materials with nanostructures of 0D, 1D or 2D dimensionalities.  Her research focuses on mastering the synergy between different types of materials by creating multicomponent systems on the surface of a bulk material. The studies deal in particular with self-assemblies on surfaces and on-surface reaction mechanisms with a view to developing functional nanostructures. The diversity of properties, in particular conduction, optical response or reactivity, makes these nanostructured surfaces particularly attractive. For example, the assembly of 2D materials and nano-objects on the surfaces is of great interest for different fields such as flexible electronics, photovoltaic devices, or optoelectronics. To achieve these objectives, Nataliya Kalashnyk uses advanced experimental techniques like various surface probes (STM, AFM, XPS, etc) as well as synchrotron radiation allowing a fine description of both the organization and the properties at the nanometer scale.
