The HOPAST’s purpose is to research, promote, publish and share European and Extra European cooperation in the fields of the History of Physics, Applied Sciences & Technology in the broadest sense within and for IEMN–CNRS, Lille University. For, its Members systematically provide projects and publications undertaking established shared programmes of research. Particularly, the Research Team:

  • It is conceived as an open team composed of Regular IEMN Members, Associate and Honorary Members (upo invitation or by application form), including PhD and Master students.
  • Supports and promotes cooperation and critical discussion between its members, within IEMN and related Institutions, including Doctoral Schools.
  • Supports new ways of scientific approaches to historical–scientific research.
  • Combines the approaches of the natural sciences and humanities in the investigation of the mathematization & modelling of natural phenomena, including their applications.
  • Provides (in a National and European/extra European context) a high–level interdisciplinary European/extra European forum for research in the above fields.
  • Provides lecturing/organizing Faculty Master Class, Summer Schools, Workshop, Colloquia, et al. typologies of events on the subject.
  • Supervises National and International Ph.D. and HDR candidates.
  • Development the spread of knowledge of general public in historical, cultural, and social aspects of physics, its applications, broadly science.
