ABDELMALEK ZEMOUR,
CIFRE PhD student at STMicroelectronics.
This thesis is the result of a collaboration between an academic laboratory (the IEMN-CNRS) and a company (STMicroelectronics).
It fits perfectly with the ‘Électronique France 2030’ strategy, which enables France to strengthen its national sovereignty in certain sectors of the electronics industry.
Supervised by Mohammed ZAKNOUNE (DR-CNRS), Malek ZEGAOUI (IR-CNRS) and Pascal Chevalier (Manager, STMicroelectronics), this thesis was carried out under an industrial research training agreement (CIFRE).
Throughout his three-year PhD, Abdelmalek demonstrated unwavering tenacity and resilience, achieving excellent results that represent the global state of the art. On his own initiative, he implemented an innovative thermal interposer approach for III-V devices on silicon, compatible with CMOS manufacturing processes. This approach has been the subject of a patent application filed jointly by STMicroelectronics and the CNRS.

Dans le cadre de notre série de portraits vidéo « Nos têtes chercheuses », et à l’occasion de la Journée internationale du droit des femmes, l’IEMN is delighted to highlight the inspiring journey BEATRIZ ORFAO E VALE TABERNERO, currently a postdoctoral researcher, recruited by Mohammed ZAKNOUNE within the ANODE group.
Through her career and determination, Beatriz helps to encourage young women to consider careers in science, thereby becoming a source of inspiration for the next generation of female researchers.
D’origine espagnole, elle a opéré un changement de pays et un changement de trajectoire scientifique pour le moins radical ; passant de la simulation Monte Carlo et la caractérisation avancée à un engagement fort dans la nanotechnologie, la fabrication et à la caractérisation de dispositifs III-V, notamment la diode Schottky à base de GaN pour les applications haute fréquence.
Over the past two and a half years, Beatriz has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to technological research within the IEMN’s cleanroom, quickly learning to use a wide range of equipment and contributing to several publications in international journals and at conferences.
