The emergence of the Internet of Things generates vast quantities of data every day, resulting in an increasing amount of raw information being sent to servers for processing. However, for a large part of the time, this requires energy-hungry systems. The need for low-energy cost processing close to the sensor is therefore becoming apparent. The LEOPAR project is part of the Near Sensor Computing framework and aims to design a low-power pre-processing unit capable of discriminating a signal and assessing its relevance, and therefore processing only useful data. Initially, the unit will process audio signals, but we are not ruling out the possibility of using the unit with other sources, such as electrocardiogram signals.
The Kick-Off will provide an opportunity to present the project and the progress of the initial work underway, as well as to discuss opportunities for joint projects.
