Creation of a RIVA Chair of Excellence
at the Université Polytechnique Hauts–de–France
The Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France and the Valenciennes Métropole Urban Community signed an agreement in 2021 for a Chair of University Excellence RIVA (Intelligent Road dedicated to the Autonomous Vehicle) for a period of 4 years.
This chair is led by the Professor Abdenour HADID, recognised teacher in artificial intelligence, which develops environmental perception systems for future automated vehicles. Researchers from the COMNUM group are working with Professor Hadid to develop the themes of this Chair (Connected and Digitalised Road Infrastructure, Augmented Perception and Cyber-security of Vehicular Communications). The originality of the chair is to to provide scientific support to both IEMN researchers and doctoral students as well as to companies in the C-ITS sector (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems) of the Valenciennes area.
Co-financed by the Valenciennes Métropole agglomeration community, l’UPHFbut also the STaRS (Support for the hosting of Scientific Research Talents) from the Conseil Régional HdF, this chair is one of the research strengths that enable links to be forged with companies in the field of intelligent transport, as set out in the UPHF Contract for the years 2020-2024.
The IEMN is a player in this development with its support of this chair and its strong involvement in European research projects C-ITS (CEF : INTERCOR, INDID and FENIX) and the CPER (CISIT, ELSAT and RITMEA) and especially the COMNUM group some of whose members are C-ITS France experts alongside the Ministry MTES (Ministry of Ecological Transition).
