Creation of the IEEE Lille student branch

The Lille IEEE student branch aims to bring together doctoral students and researchers around IEEE themes. The IEEE, one of the largest professional associations in the world, with more than 400,000 members, including 130,000 student members, allows us to organize conferences and workshops with international guests who come to Lille to present their work.
With 30 members, the student branch of Lille continues its action since a few months to animate the scientific community of Lille. Thanks to the help of IEMN, we will be able to enlarge the spectrum of topics already covered by the branch (Circuit And Systems and Solid State Circuits).
Our goals for June 2022 are to create a group of more than 60 members to allow for one conference per month and to prepare the ground for a multi-day conference in late 2022. For PhD students, an active participation in the branch allows them to have a privileged contact with researchers in their field and also to add an interesting line to their CV in addition to a larger professional network!

In December, our podcast « One Degree Higher » will be released, talking about PhDs and careers with Lille researchers, but also with guests we receive for conferences. Our first guest will be Chris Rudell, Associate Professor at the University of Washington.
