Review of the 1st Franco-Indonesian Cooperation Workshop: A success for research and innovation in sustainable transport
Following the 12th Assises franco-indonésiennes sur la Coopération Franco-Indonésienne de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche held in Valenciennes in June 2022 and the signing of the agreement between Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the CNRS in July 2024, the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (UPHF) is continuing its cooperation with Indonesia.
From 16 to 18 December 2024, the UPHF organised the 1st joint workshop with BRIN on research collaboration in the field of sustainable mobility in Valenciennes. A delegation of senior officials from BRIN, covering sectors linked to the transport of the future such as Electronics, Nanotechnologies, Telecommunications, Aerospace, Energy and Cybersecurity, not forgetting the necessary Innovation dimension, attended this first Joint Working Group.
BRIN wants to strengthen its strategic international partnerships, particularly in the field of sustainable transport and mobility. All the players from BRIN, LAMIH and IEMN were able to present the research activities of the various centres in relation to the theme set.
The aim was to meet the research players, showcase our cutting-edge platforms in Lille and Valenciennes, explore in greater depth the research themes already targeted by this strategic partnership, and discuss the setting up of a joint research structure. This partnership between UPHF and BRIN in the field of sustainable transport is a first for Indonesia and France. It is the fruit of 15 years of academic collaboration in research and training, incoming and outgoing mobility on both sides, and successful collaborative research projects.
TheDegree by Research programme was launched in 2024 with the arrival of the first 3 researchers. Discussions have also been held on the forthcoming opening of a joint research structure dedicated to sustainable transport, which the various stakeholders intend to structure in the form of a CNRS International Research Project (IRP) to support scientific and technological development between the two countries.
One of the key ambitions of this first Joint Working Group was to make progress on establishing a common scientific perimeter for sustainable transport and mobility of people and goods.
