Creation of a RIVA Chair of Excellence at the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France

The Hauts-de-France Polytechnic University and the Valenciennes Métropole Urban Community have signed an agreement in 2021 for a 4-year RIVA (Intelligent Roads dedicated to Autonomous Vehicles) University Excellence Chair.

This chair is led by Professor Abdenour HADID, a renowned professor in artificial intelligence who develops environmental perception systems for future automated vehicles. Some researchers from COMNUM group develop in collaboration with Prof Hadid the themes of this chair (Connected Infrastructure, Augmented Perception and Cyber-security of vehicular communications). The originality of this chair is to allow scientific support for both researchers and doctoral students of the IEMN as well as companies in the C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems) sector in the Valenciennes area.

Co-funded by the Valenciennes Métropole Urban Community, the UPHF, and the STaRS scheme (Support for Hosting Scientific Research Talent) of the HdF Regional Council, this chair is one of the research strengths that will help forge links with companies in the field of intelligent transport, as set out in the UPHF contract for the years 2020-2024.

IEMN is an actor of this development with its support of this chair and its strong involvement in European C-ITS research projects (CEF: INTERCOR, INDID and FENIX) and CPER (CISIT, ELSAT and RITMEA) and especially the COMNUM group, some members of which are C-ITS France experts alongside the MTES (Ministry of Ecological Transition)
