The IEMN continues to expand its research facilities with support from the ERDF

Since 2020, the IEMN has benefited from several major national projects (Priority Research Programs and Facilities, Equipex+ NANOFUTUR, Basic Technological Research) and regional projects (State-Region Planning Contract, in particular IMITECH, WaveTech, and Tecsanté). These projects support scientific initiatives in the fields of components, sensors, energy, communications, materials, and health technologies. These projects are accompanied by equipment plans aimed at modernizing the IEMN’s technological capabilities in micro- and nanofabrication, characterization, and materials synthesis. These initiatives have received additional support from the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The project, known as “F1 IMITECH,” aims to accelerate the implementation of new equipment by hiring nine engineers and engineering assistants for a period of 15 months. Their tasks range from installing the equipment (the arrival of which sometimes involves unexpected work, such as opening the cleanroom walls and moving several tons of equipment on air cushions!) to transferring etching and lithography processes and performing operations for the benefit of platform users. The project, with a total budget of €3.1 million (including €1.1 million in European funding), also includes the purchase of a laser prototyping tool, a plasma etching system, and an atomic force microscope.
