Duvail (Universit\u00e9 de Nantes, IMN), et V. G. Ivanov (Universit\u00e9 de Sofia, Bulgarie) a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 r\u00e9cemment une perc\u00e9e significative pour les nanosciences.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats concernent des observations par microscopie \u00e9lectronique \u00e0 haute r\u00e9solution (HRTEM) et spectroscopie Raman sur de nouveaux hybrides form\u00e9s par encapsulation d\u2019un compos\u00e9 \u00e0 cluster octa\u00e9drique de molybd\u00e8ne, Cs<sub>2<\/sub>Mo<sub>6<\/sub>Br<sub>14<\/sub>, phosphorescent dans le proche infrarouge, \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de nanotubes de carbone monoparoi (SWCNTs) de diam\u00e8tres vari\u00e9s. L\u2019insertion de ces clusters dans les nanotubes pourrait permettre d\u2019ajuster les caract\u00e9ristiques optiques des hybrides en vue d\u2019applications futures en t\u00e9l\u00e9communications et en biom\u00e9decine, notamment dans les fen\u00eatres de transparence de cette r\u00e9gion spectrale. Toutefois, une autre propri\u00e9t\u00e9 spectaculaire a \u00e9t\u00e9 mise en \u00e9vidence : lorsque le\u00a0 diam\u00e8tre interne des SWCNTs devient comparable au diam\u00e8tre externe de l\u2019anion mol\u00e9culaire [Mo<sub>6<\/sub>Br<sub>14<\/sub>]<sup>2\u2212<\/sup>, le confinement st\u00e9rique impos\u00e9 par le nanotube d\u00e9clenche un processus d\u2019\u00e9limination conduisant \u00e0 la formation d\u2019entit\u00e9s [Mo<sub>2<\/sub>Br<sub>6<\/sub>]<sub>x<\/sub>, assimilables \u00e0 des structures unidimensionnelles (1D) de type Ising. <strong>Chaque unit\u00e9 de la cha\u00eene n\u2019interagit qu\u2019avec ses deux voisines imm\u00e9diates, \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re de nano-aimants align\u00e9s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #e88215;\">Un tel comportement ouvre des perspectives en informatique quantique et en \u00e9lectronique mol\u00e9culaire.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Cette \u00e9tude s\u2019inscrit dans un projet plus large visant \u00e0 comprendre comment, dans des SWCNTs de tr\u00e8s faible diam\u00e8tre, <strong>le confinement extr\u00eame peut modifier profond\u00e9ment les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s \u00e9lectroniques de mol\u00e9cules ou de cristaux encapsul\u00e9s, tout en induisant l\u2019\u00e9mergence de structures 1D originales.<\/strong> Par exemple, le cristal HgTe, semi-m\u00e9tallique et cubique \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tat massif, devient semi-conducteur avec structure tetragonale 1D.
