In this seminar, I will present some of our contributions to the fields of reactivity, luminescence and magnetism, with a special focus on interesting features brought about by bulky polyarylcyclopentadienyl ligands.1 Furthermore, I will show how selective C-F bond activation with lanthanides in fluorinated benzofulvenes can provide new, strongly coloured extended pi-systems.2<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<p>1 (a) G.
