He then worked as Post-Doctoral Fellow and Research Scientist II at the Georgia Tech Research Institute until he joined the faculty of University of Colorado Boulder in 2001. He is currently Sheppard Professor of Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. He is also a full member of the University of Colorado Cancer Center. Dr. Park’s research interest is mainly in the light-matter interaction in nanostructures. Current research is focused on the nonlinear optical phenomena and their applications in communications, sensing, imaging and medicine. Dr. Park has published over 150 peer-reviewed technical articles and holds 9 U.S. and E.U. patents. He is a Fellow of SPIE, international society for optics and photonics, and is also the recipient of Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Senior Fellowship in Cancer Nanotechnology from the National Institute of Health, and the Provost’s Faculty Achievement Award from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Abstract: « Nanostructure is an increasingly important component in photonics and has found applications in a wide range of photonic devices. This talk will present fundamental principles of optical interactions in photonic nanostructures. First, I will introduce surface plasmon resonances in metallic nanostructures and present the theory of optical interactions between plasmonic nanostructures. Next, I will discuss the optical interaction between plasmonic resonances and electronic resonances. Finally, I will discuss the nanophotonic engineering of luminescence upconversion using photonic nanostructures including both plasmonic nanostructures and photonic crystals. These theoretical foundations point to interesting applications in photonic, energy and biomedical technologies. »

[3

post-73670","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-a-la-une
["GET
